About Us

We started Food Phyt with one goal in mind: providing superior, high quality, phytoplankton and saltwater aquarium products. Our driving passion is supporting the saltwater aquarium hobby and helping fellow Reefers sustain healthy tanks while not breaking the bank.

My name is Wayne Booth, and I have been in the aquarium hobby for around 40 years and "reefing" for the last 20 years.  I’m the Reefer in our family and spend a lot of time and energy ensuring our tank stays healthy. My family and I currently enjoy a 180 gallon tank with several SPS and LPS corals, Anemones, fish, invertebrates, and zooplankton.

With the goal of maintaining a healthy tank, LOTS of products and phytoplankton from several online vendors have been purchased in our household over the years.  For phytoplankton specifically, I got tired of receiving expensive, small bottles that were too thin and light. Some were even rotten upon receipt!  

Because of the poor quality phytoplankton I was receiving, I decided to begin culturing my own.  After a lot of research and several failed attempts, I am happy to say I've come up with the perfect process and recipe for culturing SUPERIOR, high quality, dense, fresh, live Nannochloropsis phytoplankton! 

In addition to the Nannocloropsis phytoplankton, we have anemones and are working to culture and grow other LIVE reef tank products.
